French Military and Civilian Collection
A historical collection preserving French documents and photographs covering the time periods from 1860 to 1954, including the Franco-Prussian War, the Paris Commune, World War I, and World War II.
The photographs and portraits depict civilian and military life showing uniforms and clothing, hair styles, and architecture. The military documents include passports, medical and hospital records, mobilization records, military orders, voter booklets, postcards, and marching songs. Civilian documents include birth and death certificates. They are in French and transcriptions are provided.
